Harling Point was the location in Victoria picked for the Chinese cemetery. It is an amazingly beautiful spot on the shore of the Strait of Juan de Fuca with a view across the water to the Olympic Mountains of Washington State. It is a great spot to wildlife watch as the shoreline is the frequent visiting spot of otters and mink. Just offshore you can occasionally see harbour seals and both California and Stellers Sea Lions. On a winter morning I was lucky to arrive there at dawn to witness the morning sun turning the side of the clouds a bright red colour.
